About Me

I entered the work-at-home world back in 2004 when nobody would give me a job because I was expecting. Yes, I know, lame. Even though I was never told I couldn't be hired because of that—it was the obvious reason. Therefore, I went at it from a different angle and got my feet wet working from home as a customer service and sales representative for West Corporation. That was it—I was bitten by the work-at-home bug.

In 2009, I made a career switch and began contributing articles to a variety of online publications, mostly through content mills. Some of the topics were health, fitness, gardening, sociology, psychology, economics, and pets. And honestly, I've been writing since was a child, so it wasn't terribly difficult to break into. Writing has always been something I've done in my spare time. I've written songs, poetry, manuscripts, short stories—you name it, I've probably written it!

Anyway, I was in and out of school until I finally graduated with a Bachelor's in Psychology in 2013, but by then, I had discovered that my passion really was for writing. With the realization that I was too broke to go back to school to get a degree in any of the fields that most people think writers should hold, I opted to try and hold it down by continuing to write for the content mills. However, this would prove to be increasingly frustrating and damaging to my self-esteem. It wasn't because my writing was unacceptable at the time but as a result of biased editors who seemed to find fault in every little thing. I am not alone in feeling that way, as many others have experienced the same.

I took a break to homeschool and care for my children because I felt that it was needed at the time. Everything that I wanted to work on was put on the back burner, so to speak. In 2015, I decided that it was time for me to get back to working toward my dreams. Since then, my children have transitioned to regular school. Things are still pretty hectic, but I'm able to focus more on the things I need and want to get done.

Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work and gain experience in many fields including project management (telecom), customer service, sales, marketing, photography, website design, childcare, etc. All of which I am grateful for because it has helped to shape me into who I am today.

Even though I've been a writer for years, last year I decided to brush up on all the things I really needed to know in order to be successful. I've been studying and learning as much as I can about everything from social media to crafting excellent content to marketing, and everything in between. It's been a very long, exhausting, and yet inciteful journey that I have undertaken.

Currently, I work as a content marketing specialist. I'm also working on a few fiction and nonfiction pieces that I plan to publish in the next few months.
